Author’s Statement
As I have begun my formal teacher training, I have realized how exclusive the ideal methods of individual music education remain. Many teachers are working to address this discrepancy. I am hoping that through the creation of a supplemental practice guide to book one of both the Kaleidoscopes and Suzuki violin and viola methods, families of more diverse socioeconomic backgrounds will be able to support their student’s music education. My hope is that through making music education more accessible, more students will be able to experience the benefits of learning an instrument, more students will learn a love for classical music and develop a deeper appreciation for music, and that the classical world will be able to expand which voices and cultural traditions are represented in rehearsals and on stage.

Small Steps
The idea of finally creating the supplemental practice guide that I have been dreaming up for the last few years is daunting to say the least.
